The Michael Fox Remembrance Foundation was founded in memory of Michael Fox, who was killed at the age of 22, June 25th, 2006 in a tragic automobile accident. Michael began racing KARTS at a small track in Columbiana, Ohio when he was eight years old. By the time he was 13, he was competing on the national level. He was first in his class for several years.
In the last few years Michael advanced to racing in the Grand Prix Series in which he took several first places. With the aid of racing, Michael Fox was focused on his goal at a young age. Pursuing his goal of racing gave Michael a positive alternative to the drugs, alcohol, and crime that so many young people have to face today and taught him valuable skills.
Our purpose at the Michael Fox Remembrance Foundation is to allow other young people this same opportunity. Through racing they can learn valuable educational skills and build traits such as discipline, self-esteem, good work ethics, and sportsmanship. They will have the opportunity to meet with people who have the same interests, positive values and character, allowing them to make life long friends. These qualities and friendships will enrich every aspect of their lives as they grow into accomplished, self confident young men and women.
Michael Fox Remembrance Foundation is proud to have teamed up with BMW of Greer, SC to allow a lucky young driver an opportunity to pursue their dream.. With the help of MFR Foundation and BMW a talented person will be awarded a scholarship to the BMW racing school. This would not have been possible without the passion that Andy Van Cleef has shown for our organization.
